We're excited to announce that General Motors (GM) contributed $25,000 to DIY Girls to support our STEM programs for girls. GM is committed to promoting STEM careers for girls and this investment shows the company's support for girls in Los Angeles. Last year, GM named its first female CEO, Mary Barra, an electrical engineer and great role model for girls!
We are working with GM to involve designers from the company's North Hollywood Advanced Design Center as volunteers and speakers for our programs. Girls in our programs learn to use design software for 3D modeling and will be excited to learn about real-world applications like car design directly from GM's team.
The investment was announced on December 2nd (Giving Tuesday) at the Southern California Leadership Network's Visionaries luncheon. Dave Barthmuss, Group Manager for GM's West Coast PR team, presented the donation to our Executive Director.
We're very grateful for this investment and commitment from GM and look forward to the 2015 partnership!
